CASTLETON Helen Ann Hurley, RN, Sunrise February 6, 1918, Sunset July 27, 2004 at the Resurrection Nursing Home after a brief illness. Helen was born in East Meadows, Long Island, graduating from Kings County Nursing School in 1941. She joined the US Navy Nurses Corps to serve her country on Guam in World War II in the Pacific Campaign. She reached the rank of lieutenant. Helen was a communicant of Church of St. Mary's Clinton Heights and a member of the East Greenbush Historical Society. Even as the shadow of eternal life encircled her, she was quick to ask, What can I do for you? Very proud of her profession as a registered nurse, she continued to assist her fellow patrons at the home. Helen worked many years at St. Peter's Hospital and retired from the VA Hospital in 1979. She epitomized the caring, compassion, commitment and concern toward all these in need throughout her career and life. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. Helen is survived by Dennis J. Hurley Jr. (Keli), Michael S. Hurley (Barbara) and Timothy P. Hurley (Janice). Also survived by three grandchildren, Dennis Jason Hurley, Michael S. Hurley Jr. and Joanne O'Carroll (Peter) and a great-grandchild, Thomas O' Carroll. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral 8:30 a.m. on Friday from the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer and 9:00 a.m. at Church of St. Mary's Clinton Heights where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated. Friends may call Thursday 4-7 in the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. The family has requested that those who wish to remember Helen make contributions to Resurrection Nursing Home, 90 N. Main St., Castleton, NY 12033 in her memory.
