SHORT Helen A. Short, age 80, formerly of Bois Circle, Laconia, N.H., died on Friday, March 28, 2003, at the Golden View Health Care Center, Meredith, N.H., after a long illness. Mrs. Short was born in December 24, 1922, in Milford, the daughter of the late Alfred J. and Maude (Hardy) Aherns. She lived in Milford, most of her life and graduated from Milford High in 1940. On September 27, 1942, she married John (Jack) Short. Family members include four daughters, Susan Palmer, of Orange, Judith Pryor, of Meredith, N.H., Nancy Ross, of Milford, and Leslie Skibitsky, of Dixfield, Maine; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, John (Jack) Short, who died November 20, 1997; by her sisters, Evelyn Woodruff, Dorothy Edo Dicamillo and Ruth Jankovski and by her brothers, Howard Aherns and Alfred Ahrens Jr. A private burial will be held at the King s Highway Cemetery, Milford. A memorial service will be held at the First United Church of Christ Congregational in Milford, on Saturday, April 5, 2003 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request s that donations be sent to the Milford Hospital Memorial Fund, 300 Seaside Avenue, Milford, CT 06460, or the Alzheimer s Association, 10 Ferry Street, Suite 426 B, Concord, N.H. 03301.
