BETHUNE – Mrs. Hazil Horton, 73, wife of Jimmy C. Horton, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013, in KershawHealth. She was born in Jefferson and was a daughter of the late J.W. "Son" Lynn and Iva Boone Lynn. Mrs. Horton was co-owner of Horton's Grocery and attended Shamrock Baptist Church. She enjoyed her grandchildren and traveling.Surviving are her husband of Bethune; a daughter, Patty Horton Hidy and her husband, Joseph, of Dayton, Ohio; a brother, Mitchell Lynn and his wife, Joann, of Jefferson; five sisters, Aline Eubanks of Jefferson, Lois Boone of Jefferson, Janie Snipes, Margaret Knight, and Virginia Wright and her husband, Carl, all of Lancaster; and four grandchildren, Josh Klinect of Miami Beach, Fla., Carson Hidy, Tayte Hidy, and Reese Hidy, all of Dayton.She was predeceased by a daughter, Pamela Horton Klinect; and two brothers, Joe M. Lynn and John C. Lynn.Funeral services for Hazil Lynn Horton are 11 a.m. today, Sept. 6, at Shamrock Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the committal service and welcome anyone to join them for fellowship in The White House next to the church sanctuary.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.Baker Funeral Home is serving the Horton family.
