Obituary of Hazel-Helen Hauck


Hauck, Hazel Helen, age 88, passed away at Palm Gardens Nursing Home of Gainesville, Thursday July 3, 2008. Mrs. Hauck was born in Boston, MA, and graduated from the Teachers College of Boston with a major in Mathematics. In 1942 she became a member of the first class of WAVES (female Naval Auxiliary) and spent the remainder of WWII as an assistant in the Office of the Commandant of the New York Naval Yard, and later in the Codes and Communications Division of Naval Headquarters in New York. She finished her service in 1954 with the rank of Lt. Commander. For 25 years, Mrs. Hauck worked as a homemaker, and contributed to the efforts of many charitable organizations and causes before retiring with her husband Charles L. Hauck, Jr., to Florida in 1975. She was a community leader in her home for 30 years in Park City, Davie, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, and is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles L. Hauck, III and Penni H. Hauck of Gainesville, and her granddaughters Carley L. Hauck of San Francisco, and Jessica A. Hauck of Gainesville. Funeral Services will be held Monday July 7, 2008 at 11:30 AM at WILLIAMS-THOMAS DOWNTOWN FUNERAL HOME, 404 N. Main Street, Gainesville, followed by burial next to her husband at the Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL. For further information: WILLIAMS-THOMAS DOWNTOWN 352-376-7556
