-> Hattie Mae Cope Morgan, age 84, widow of the late Charles P. Morgan, died December 13, 2003 at Habersham House. Born July 7, 1919 in Jasper County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Walter Lee and Viola (Viree) Smith Cope. She lived in Savannah for a number of years before moving to Chattanooga, TN. She worked for the United States Probation Office in Savannah and also in Chattanooga, retiring in 1997. She was a member of Brainerd United Methodist Church in Chattanooga and a former member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church in Savannah and Pine Level Baptist Church in Grays, SC. A sister, Annie Lou Connelly and three brothers, Marion Clyde Cope, Warren Lee Cope and James R. Cope, also preceded her in death. Survivors: a sister, Irene Burgener of Varnville, SC; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Hutto Cope of Swansea, SC, and Frances Smith Cope of Grays, SC; two brothers and sisters -in-law, Robert L. and Dot Cope and Bernard L. and Hazel Cope of Grays , SC; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2003, at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
