JOYNES, Harry George 1916 - 2008 Harry Joynes passed away peacefully at the Calgary Chinook Hospice on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the age of 92 years. Harry is survived by his brothers Carl (Violet) Peterson, Joynes (Evelyn) Peterson, Merlin Peterson, Norman (Laura) Peterson and his sisters Dorothy Frombach and Marjorie Farmer. He is also remembered by close friends Arnold and Agatha Friesen, Elsie Quiring, Brian and Julie Ireland, Sylvia Woods, and Rose Macaraeg. Harry was predeceased by loving wife Gwen, adoptive parents Harry and Fanny Joynes, mother Edith Peterson, brother Gustaf Peterson, sisters-in-law Lois Peterson, Ethel Peterson and Jay Cash and brothers-in-law Wilfred Frombach and Bob Farmer. Harry was born in Tugaske, Saskatchewan on January 21, 1916. He was a teacher and taught in Shamrock, Saskatchewan and Calgary, Alberta. Harry joined the Air Force on July 3, 1942, serving overseas with the Ferry Command. He ferried planes from the Bahamas to Egypt. Harry was discharged on July 3, 1945 with the rank of Flying Officer.
