Jones, Harriet Mae BlanckenMay 6, 1922 - Aug. 7, 2008Harriet Mae Blancken Jones, 86, of Sarasota, Fla., was called home to be with the Lord on Aug. 7, 2008. Harriet will be missed and remembered by her large extended family and friends for her gentle smile and her quiet, kind and patient manner.Harriet was born May 6, 1922, in Flagler, Colo. She was the third child of George W. Blancken and Wilhelmina Settgast Blancken. Harriet was a faithful Lutheran. After 23 years at the Florida Department of Health, she retired from service.Survivors include daughters Charlotte Gibbs of Irving, Texas, Sandra Geary of Bunola, Pa., Christine Coffelt of Clever, Mo., and Betty Workman of Sarasota, Fla.; sons Stephen and David Jones, both of Sarasota, Fla.; sisters Helen Wake of Greeley, Colo., Velma Nordine of Bloomington, Ill., Madge Martin of Corvallis, Ore., Eunice Niemann of Flagler, Colo., and Nona Zielke of Keldron, S.D.; 10 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. Harriet was preceded in death by brothers George and Richard Blancken; sister Julia Blancken; and one grandson.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.Palms-Robarts Funeral Home handled all local arrangements.
