HARRIET “HATTIE“ PICHE -- SHELBURNE — Harriet “Hattie“ Piche, 75, of Shelburne, formerly a longtime resident of South Burlington died peacefully Saturday, March 26, 2005, with her loving family by her side in the Burlington Health and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness. Hattie was born in Ellenburg Depot, N.Y., Feb. 23, 1930, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Edith (Peryea) McDonald. She was married in Winooski in 1948, to Roland J. Piche. He predeceased her in 1985. Her life was devoted to loving and caring for her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Hattie is survived by seven children, Judith Sicard of Florida, James Piche and wife Rita of Kyrgyzstan, Linda Britch and husband Bruce of Colchester, Jean Gadue and husband Peter of Shelburne, Carolyn Thornton and husband Jim of Florida, Michael J. Piche and wife Shirley of Stephentown, N.Y., and Anne Eldred and husband Gary of Waterbury; 27 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a daughter-inlaw, Laurie Piche of Alabama; two sisters, Theresa L'Ecuyer of Colchester, and Margaret Mansfield of New Hampshire; one brother, Rudolph McDonald of Florida; in-laws, Robert and Pauline Piche, Florence Calarco and Alyce Piche; special family, Nancy Hotopp, Linda Pidgeon and Wendy Coleman; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Hattie was predeceased by a son, Thomas Piche; a grandson, Shane Kroboth; her twin sister, Martha Barber; and sisters, Mercedes McDonald and Anna Schmaldeinst. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 29, at 11 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Shelburne. Interment will follow at Resurrection Park in South Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Burlington Health & Rehabilitation Center, 300 Pearl St., Burlington, Vt. 05401; or to the Visiting Nurse Association, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, Vt. 05446. Visiting hours will be Monday, March 28, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St., Winooski.
