Harriet-Amanda-Noel Smith, died at 85 years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Edward Cutrer Smith; her parents, the late William Blackman Noel, Sr. and Hattie Willliams Noel of Murfreesboro, TN; brothers, Oscar Jones Noel and William B. Noel, Jr. She is survived by her children, Robert Tee Groom III (Michelle), Walter Edward Smith (Lee Ann), Oscar Noel Smith; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of CA; her sisters, Emily Noel and Lacy Noel Wakid (Nabil) of Murfreesboro.Mrs. Smith was born in Nashville, TN, reared in Murfreesboro where she graduated from Central High School and Middle Tennessee State College. After her schooling, she taught in Atlanta where she met and later married Dr. Smith. Following a few years in Oak Ridge, TN, they returned to Atlanta. Later, they moved to California for a number of years, after which they retired to Monteagle, TN and later to Oceanside, CA. Through the years, she was an active and participating member of the Episcopal Church, active in community organizations, service through the arts, and opening the Image Gallery in Fullerton, CA. She was a driving force in establishing photography as a primary art form. She exhibited and sold many noted artists' works during that time. She was an avid bridge player as well as an accomplished tennis player. Private family graveside service for Mrs. Smith will be Saturday, 22nd March, 2014 in Oceanside.
