WRIGHT, Harold MervinSeptember 28, 1920 - January 13, 2012Lt. Col. Harold Wright of Ottawa passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012 at the age of 91 years. Harold was predeceased by his wife Dorothy (2007), son Keith (1982), brothers Francis (Helen), Cecil (Margaret), Glenn (Blanche), sister Marguerite (Harold), and two sisters who died in infancy. He is survived by his son Kevin, daughter-in-law Margaret, grandson Fraser, and many nieces and nephews. Harold was born in the family farmhouse outside Glanworth (London), Ontario. He served in the RCAF and Canadian Forces from 1942 until 1975 and then worked for Corrections Canada until his retirement. Throughout his life, Harold loved to learn and to take on new projects, whether it be gardening, wine-making, organizing trips, or writing a book about the RCAF veterans of World War II aviation medicine. Harold and Dorothy toured extensively in Europe with their sons when he was posted in Germany in the 1960's and they continued to indulge their passion for travel during their retirement. He will be missed by his many friends and his family. Our family and Harold's friends would like to thank the staff of Lifestyle Transition Management, Alta Vista Manor, Rideau #1 South, the Riverside Dialysis Unit, the General Hospital Dialysis Unit and the General's 7 NW unit for the compassion and tender care they provided him. Family will receive condolences on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Beechwood National Cemetery Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario; a Memorial Service celebrating his life will take place at 3:00 pm in the Sacred Space. Reception to follow, in the Borden and Fleming Reception Suites at 4:00 p.m.In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
