Harold Roy, DeLand, the eldest of eleven children, was born June 21, 1920 to Loudis Roy and Clementine Laxey. On November 13, 2007, Harold decided that his soul was ready to be with the Lord. At a very early age, Harold accepted Christ in his life. He realized that God is the way and the only one to believe. Harold left behind a lovely wife, Jessie; three sons, Harold Roy Jr., Richard Rice and Roger Rice; beautiful grandchildren, of Washington, D.C., and Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He now joins his six brothers, Clifton, Chester, Hammond, Wallace, Raymond and Arthur Roy; and sons, Sidney and James Rice in Heaven's beautiful skies. He also leaves behind four sisters, Grace Walter, Ames, Texas, Rose Richard, Nora Carmen and Betty Gordwin, Houston, Texas; and two aunts, Edna Roy Green, Lafayette, La., and Gustavia Hunter, Richmond, Calif., both have celebrated their 100th birthday; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may call Monday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
