Harold "Ray" Raymond McGhee October 08, 1921 - July 17, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Peacefully on July 17, 2004, Ray passed away at the Portage District General Hospital. Ray was born near Tuelon, Manitoba on October 8, 1921. Ray served with the Canadian army in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany during the Second World War. After the war, he married June Eileen Jones on December 19, 1945. Except for his military service overseas, Ray spent most of his life in Winnipeg. He lived for many years on Berwyn Bay in Transcona. Ray spent the last year of his life happily living in Gladstone, Manitoba, where he was fondly known as “grandpa” by the community. He was a member of Gladstone Legion #110 and the Gladstone Seniors Drop-In Center. He was a regular attendee at the weekly fiddle concerts at Third Crossing Manor and loved going out for coffee or ice cream. He was predeceased by his wife, Eileen; parents Alfred and Jean Grierson; infant daughter, June; brothers George, Doug, Norman, and Don; sister Evelyn. He leaves to mourn, his daughters Carol (Robert) Hunter and Diana McGhee; son Richard McGhee; grandchildren Buster and Eileen Hunter and Graham and Leanne Grieves; as well as many nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 6, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gladstone United Church, Gladstone, MB. Interment will take place on Saturday, August 7, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Mood Disorder Association of Manitoba, #4-1000 Notre Dame Avenue, R3E 0N3.
