VeterinarianLAKELAND -- Dr. Harold D. James of Lakeland died of pneumonia Friday (May 28, 2004) at Good Shepherd Hospice, Grace Health Care. He was 88.Born Sept. 5, 1915, in Yellow Springs, Ohio, he came here from Tallahassee in 1952. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a veterinarian and owner of James Animal Hospital, Lakeland. He was a member of the Florida Veterinarian Association and Westminster Presbyterian Church.Mr. James was preceded in death by his wife, Nelle Frances McClellan James. He is survived by his sons, Rodney James and Charles James, both of Lakeland; daughters, Barbara Hensley and Nancy Brandenburg, both of Lakeland; sister, Pauline Sidenstick, Snellville, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lakeland Funeral Home. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
