<!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Harold Ashby AndersonSt. GeorgeHarold Ashby Anderson joined his eternal companion on September 22, 2014, just three weeks shy of his 90th birthday. He died from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Harold was born in Leamington, Utah on October 13, 1924 to Oscar Alma Anderson and Mary Lottie Ashby Anderson. Harold was the second of six sons and two daughters. Harold worked and played hard while growing up in Fillmore, Utah. He graduated from Millard High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II as a medic. When he returned he married his sweetheart, DeAun Black. They were married on January 15, 1947 in the Manti LDS Temple. They were a great couple who worked well together. They had many wonderful experiences. They supported each other's endeavors. They shared 66 years together before the Lord reached out and took DeAun home on February 23, 2013.Following their marriage they lived in Fillmore until they decided that Harold needed to continue his education. They sold their house in Fillmore so they could afford to go to school at Utah State University where Harold graduated as a civil engineer. Following graduation they moved to Cedar City where Harold worked with the Soil Conservation Service prior to returning to Fillmore where he continued to work with them before transferring to the BLM. One of the biggest projects that Harold designed was the Little Sahara Sand Dunes. In 1975, Harold was transferred to the Arizona Strip District. While there he helped restore pioneer structures on the Arizona Strip, one being the quaint little School House that was an historical treasure. Harold was then transferred to the Washington D.C. office where he was in charge of all construction projects in the Western United States and Alaska. During that time he was loaned to the Saudi Arabian Government as a consultant on water supply location, conservation, and earth dam construction. It was an educational and exciting experience to work in the Middle East where water resources are a premium. When Harold retired from the Washington D.C. office they returned to Utah where he worked at Intermountain Power Plant and for a private engineering firm before establishing his own business. In this personal engineering business he designed and engineered the Southern Nevada Veteran's Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.Harold has enjoyed the outdoors and several hobbies throughout his life. He has served faithfully in many different capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Bishop, Scout Master, High Councilor, and Executive Secretary, both on the Ward and Stake levels. He and DeAun served two full-time missions for the LDS Church: St. George Historical Sites Mission and the Melbourne Australia Mission.He is survived by his daughters: Julie (Frank) Belger of Henderson, Nevada and Jill (Evan) Johnson of St. George, Utah. He has nine wonderful grandchildren: Granddaughters: Patrice Martinez, Kristin (Ryan) English, Erica (Carlos) Lueck, Marissa (Bula) Andresen, Micah (Nick) Boulton and Marnie (Jimmy) Leonard; Grandsons: Jeremy (Laura) Johnson, Nate (Kimberly) Johnson, and James Edward Belger. He was fortunate to interact with and love all of his 22 great-grandchildren and a great-grandson, he will kiss before his birth. Harold is also survived by four of his brothers: Grant (Gwen) Anderson, Paul (Joyce) Anderson, Oscar (Marie) Anderson, Scott (Lorraine) Anderson and two sisters: Madge Warner and Elaine Halsey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Alma and Mary Lottie Anderson; his brother, Dwayne Anderson; his brothers-in-law, Joseph Warner and Leo Halsey, and a stillborn son.The family would like to thank the staff in the Memory Care Unit at Emeritus at Cliff View for their loving care and concern as they took care of Harold, and Dixie Home Hospice, especially Alison Hurst.Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fillmore LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, 25 South 300 West in Fillmore. A viewing will be held in St. George on Friday, September 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd, and also on Saturday in Fillmore from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church.
