Howard Davis Howard Davis, 77, passed away on January 9, 2009, at home after struggling with cancer. He was born and raised in Sopchoppy but lived in Tallahassee for approximately 50 years, before moving back home. He retired from Centel Telephone Company in 1992 with 42 years of service. He dearly loved hunting, fishing, but most of all his garden and family.He served two years in the Army during the Korean War. Survivors are his wife Carrie of 52 years, four children, a son, Shelly Davis of Sopchoppy, three daughters, Bonnie and Arlene Davis of Medart and Eunice Broome of Lake Fork, Idaho; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; five brothers, Broward of Hendersonville, N.C., Larry and Bruce of Sopchoppy, Ricky of Crawfordville and Don of Smith Creek; two sisters, Hazel Davis of Tallahassee and Jean Yale of Havana plus numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Davis; and a sister, Helen Simmons. Burial will be Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at 2 p.m. in West Sopchoppy Cemetery with Bro. John Dunning officiating. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Harvey-Young Funeral Home in Crawfordville (850-997-5553).
