Obituary of Helen Miller

MILLER, HELEN "IRENE", 81, of Mount Dora, died unexpectedly on May 6, 2006. She was born to the late Donald and Regina Wallace on October 6, 1924 in New Sharon, Iowa. She is survived by her loving husband Don Miller; children, Dale W., Janet M., Gary L., David L. and Joyce L. Miller; her grandchildren, Dominique, Alexis, Patrick, Racheal, Shelli, Kaleigh Miller, and Michael Hartman; seven great grandchildren. Irene joins her sister, Charlotte and her granddaughter, Windy Williams in Heaven. Irene graduated from New Sharon High School in 1941 and was a member of the girls' basketball team, high school band, Glee Club, and High School Year Book. After moving to Florida in 1956, Irene continued her education graduating from the University of Florida with both Bachelor and Masters Degrees. After graduation, Irene worked as a certified Speech Pathologist for a number of years before retiring in 1995. Irene was an active member of the Mount Dora, First United Methodist Church, serving in a number of rolls including most recently the Prayer Chain, Carpenter Sunday School Class, Hannah Circle and Social Calendar for membership. She also was a volunteer for the Election Board and a Pink Lady at Florida Hospital Waterman until her passing. Upon her death, Irene requested that the following passage be included in her obituary: Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints in the snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die. Irene was often heard to say that she loved life, her friends and her family alike. She will be dearly missed by all those that she touched and were touched by her. Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Friday, May 12th, at 439 East 5th Avenue, Mount Dora, First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, it's Irene's wish that donations be sent to the "Anthony House" sponsored by her church. The family wishes to extend a special "Thank You" to Florida Hospital Waterman, ER nurse, Ken; the ambulance transport crews; Dr. William Weaver; to Central Florida Regional Hospital, NSICU nurses Kim, Kim, Phillip, RT Jerry and Neurosurgeon Dr. Rodas for the loving comfort and care they provided for our loved one and extended family. Arrangements are by the ALLEN J. HARDEN FUNERAL HOME, 1800 N. Donnelly Street, Mount Dora, FL 32757, 352-383-8178. (www.allenjharden.com) .
