Helen Dorothy Miller, formerly of Suffern until 2007, currently of Plaza Regency in Park Ridge, NJ, a woman of strength and faith died on June 12, 2008. Born in the Bronx on July 29, 1908 to Patrick and Catherine White, Helen resided in Brooklyn until 1976 when she moved to Suffern. During her life, Helen exemplified courage and spirit keeping her independence until her illness in 2007. She was a woman ahead of her time, completing business school after her High School graduation and entering the work world, retiring at 65 from Novocol Chemical Company in Brooklyn after many years as a bookeeper. Helen was a very active retiree belonging to Spook Rock Seniors Club, Suffern Seniors Club, Ramapo Center, Foster Grandparents of Rockland and the "Over 90 Club". Declining health forced her to curtail her activities but her sharp mind and indomitable spirit enabled her to keep abreast of world events and social changes. Predeceased by her parents, three sisters, Mary Theresa, Elvera and Edna, and one brother Raymond, as well as her devoted son-in-law Raymond Bechtel. Helen lives on in the love and memories of her daughter Dolores Bechtel, son - Robert K. Miller and well loved daughter-in-law Elenore Miller as well as one niece and two nephews. The Family will receive friends today from 2-4 and 7-9PM at Higgins Funeral Home, New City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack with Burial to follow in St. Johns Cemetery in Middle Village, NY. MICHAEL J.
