HELEN DORIS McKENZIE (HENNESSEY) Helen's earthly journey ended at 3 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2014, four days after her 98th birthday. Darling mother and friend of Karen. Beloved daughter of the late J. W. (Jack) Hennessey and the late Marion Pearl Smith, both originally from Brighton, Ontario. Sister to the late Professor Stuart Hennessey of the University of Toronto. Wife of the late Donald McKenzie. Special friend to the late Walter Groves. Lifelong dear friends with the late Hilda Perigoe, ending after 88 years on Hilda's passing. Helen was an avid and skillful lawn bowler. As a member of the Lawrence Park Lawn Bowling Club, she won numerous prizes and trophies. Helen is survived by nephews Ian and Eric and nieces Tia and Donna Bartlam. Also by 15 great-nieces and great-nephews. She will be remembered as a woman who lived by her faith and principles always and during times of great difficulties. Helen cheered and inspired many people, particularly during her later years. A very special "thank you" to Eden, who contributed immeasurably to making her final 19 months happ y and comfortable and lending her the dignity she deserved. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated. Private arrangements have been made.
