TROY Helen B. McDermott, 91, of Troy, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 29, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Bridget (Delia) Heffernan McDermott. Mrs. McDermott was a graduate of Troy High School and Siena College, receiving a bachelor of arts degree in 1955 and a master's in education degree in 1962. Helen was employed with the N.Y.S. Dept. of Education retiring several years ago. She was a member of the C.S.E.A., St. Michael's Woman's Guild and the Alter Rosary Society. Helen is survived by one sister, Mary McDermott of Troy; and her foster child, Louise Sharpe and family; and sister to the late John McDermott; also survived by several cousins. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 3rd St., Troy and at 10 a.m. in St. Michael the Arc Angel Church in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Family and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
