Obituary of Harriet-Winslow Wheeler


A long time resident of Irvington died on January 26, 2002 in Goshen, NY. She was born on July 21, 1913 in New York City, daughter of the late Gladys R. and Thomas S. Winslow. She is survived by her children Brook Wheeler Berlind of New York City; Charles Hathorn Wheeler of Patterson, NY; Poppy Wheeler Anthony of Philadelphia, PA; Winslow Temple Wheeler of Gaithersburg, MD; two grandsons, one step grandson, three great grandsons and her sister, Mary Olive Winslow Mygatt of Bellevue, WA. At the time of her death she was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of New York, the General Society of Mayflower Descendants and the Thursday Club of which she was a former President of the Board. She was a former board member of St. Faiths House, now the St. Faiths House Foundation, and the Irvington Library. She had been active with the Girl Scouts and had worked on behalf of Planned Parenthood for many years. She was instrumental in establishing the Back Parlor, a gift shop that benefited the Tarrytown Historical Society. A memorial service will be held at the Irvington Presbyterian Church at 11 am on Saturday, February 9. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hudson Peconic Planned Parenthood, 4 Skyline Drive, Hawthorne, NY, 10532.
