Obituary of H. -Patricia Lee


H. Patricia Lee, 91, died Saturday, April 18, 2009. She was born in Auburn, NY, on January 12, 1918. She was a daughter of the late Morgan and Mary O'Toole Newkirk. In 1935, she married Stanley Lee, who predeceased her. She was a bookkeeper at the Niskayuna Co-op, where her husband was manager. She also held managerships at Stewart's Shop, Normanskill Dairy Shops, Kay-Bee Toys, and Flavorland. She also was a teller at Trustco Bank. Pat owned a gift shop on Nott Street, which held a contract Post Office. All of these accomplishments were achieved despite having to leave school in the ninth grade to care for her mother who had been stricken with polio. After retirement, Patricia and her husband lived in Deltona, Florida, and Madison, NY, for many years. While in Florida, she volunteered at Fox Hospital and at two cancer thrift shops in Valushia County. After her husband's death, she moved to Scotia. She volunteered at the Baptist Retirement Center and at her church, St. Andrew's Episcopal. She is survived by her sons, Stanley A. (Fern) Lee of Scotia and J. David (Wilma) Lee of Knox, NY; and a stepson, Norman S. Lee of LeJara, CO. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Patricia was predeceased by her sister, Margaret (Peggy) Walters of Utah; and her brother, Morgan (John) Newkirk of Florida. Interment in Auburn, NY, at the convenience of the family.
