Colonel Guy C.D., M.I.D. Peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on September 2, 2001, at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Fernande. Loving father of Paul (his wife Bonnie) and Genevieve (her husband Terence). Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Adam, Amy, Jessica and Drew. Survived by his brothers Hugues, Pierre and Serge, his sister Ghislaine and his stepmother Pauline. Predeceased by his brother Roland. Served with the Regiment de Maisonneuve as platoon commander in N.W. Europe during WWII. Graduated in 1952 from Carleton University in Journalism, which he practiced until 1964. Joined the Federal Department of Labour, serving as Executive Assistant to the Deputy Minister of Labour, Labour Counsellor for Canada in Brussels, Assistant Director of the International Labour Affairs Branch and retiring in 1984 as Director General of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Branch. Joined the Regiment de Hull in 1947 and promoted through the officer ranks to Commanding Officer from 1959 to 1964. Appointed Honorary Colonel from 1989 to 1998. Friends and relatives may call at the Racine, Robert & Gauthier Funeral Home, 180 Montreal Road, Vanier, on Thursday, September 6, 2001, from 7 to 10 p.m. and Friday, September 7 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica Notre Dame, Sussex Drive, Ottawa.
