GUS LEE JONES Gus Lee Jones, 72, of Vero Beach, died September 12, 2006 at his residence after a prolonged illness. He was born April 4, 1934 in Dade County, FL and moved to Vero Beach 72 ago from his birth place. Mr. Jones was employed at Piper Aircraft Corp., Vero Beach for 25 years and later by the Indian River County Parks Divison for 15 years . He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Vero Beach Aerie and the Vero Beach Moose Lodge 1822. Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division during the Korean War. Surviving are his daughters, Maryann Meadows (Thomas) of Caladonia, OH and Donna Luke (Rodney) of Vero Beach; son, Michael Daleo Jones and step-son, Daniel Whittington both of Vero Beach; sister, Doris Hopkins of Vero Beach; granddaughters , Dana Everhart of Vero Beach and Tasha Meadows of Caladonia, OH; grandsons, Kevin Kapp and Michael Jones of Vero Beach and Thomas Meadows II of Ohio; greatgrandchildren, Tyler, Samantha, Breanna and Grace. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy L. Jones in 1990. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Sunday at the Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Buddy Tipton, Pastor, Central Assembly of God, Vero Beach, officiating. Interment will follow in Winter Beach Cemetery, Winter Beach, FL with military honors conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3918, Vero Beach.
