Gretha May Flank (née Cox) October 25, 1924 - April 18, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre Mrs. Gretha Flank, aged 80 years, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Monday, April 18, 2005. She was born in Kenora to the late Ambrose and Myrtle Cox and was raised and educated there. Gretha moved to Red Lake, Ontario and married Max Hoerndl in 1941 and in 1949 they came to Fort William where she has resided since. She remarried Edmond Flank in 1960. Gretha was employed with McKellar Hospital as a nurses aid and later became a housekeeper. Gretha was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 and she enjoyed dancing, playing music and poetry. Predeceased by her parents, husband Max Hoerndl (late 1950’s), sister Priscilla Hascher, Verna, Iris, Nellie and brother Elmer. Survived by daughters April (Raymond) Worms of Port Alberni, B.C., Maxine Kootnekoff of Victoria, B.C., Jean (Ben) Olson of Stony Plain, Alberta, eight grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral services for Mrs. Flank will be held at Jenkens Funeral Home on Thursday evening, April 21, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. with visitation for family and friends commencing at 6:30 p.m. until the time of service. Rev. Lloyd Ivany will officiate. Services are complete in the chapel with interment at Mountain View Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
