Grace Wohlfahart ButlerHyde Park - Grace Wohlfahart Butler of Hyde Park passed away on December 21, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 90.Born in South Sanibal, NY Oswego County the daughter of the late George and Emma Keding.Grace was a pioneer for women working on the railroad. She worked for NY Central Railroad during WWII in the Poughkeepsie NY station as a ticket agent. She also worked in Beacon and Peekskill NY on the Hudson division. She was also an operator at the New Hamburg drawbridge. Grace was the first female freight agent for Penn Central and Conrail working in Peekskill and Poughkeepsie. She retired in 1981 after 37 years of service.Grace married Lester R. Butler on November 4, 1979. Lester predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her 1st husband Charles Wohlfahart, her son George "Butch" Wohlfahart and her brothers Robert and Albert Keding and sister Oneida Sestak.She is survived by her daughter in law Patricia Wohlfahart, grandsons Todd Wohlfahart, Pleasant Valley NY, Thomas Wohlfahart , Wappingers Falls NY, and Michael Wohlfahart , Poughkeepsie NY. Daughters In Laws, Heidi Wohlfahart, Julie Wohlfahart and Liz Wohlfahart, great grandchildren, Tyler Harrison, Carlie Wohlfahart, Nicholas Wohlfahart, Jason Wohlfahart, David Wohlfahart, and Emoree Wohlfahart. Sisters Anna Vercillo of Syracuse and Ruth Aluzzi of Fulton NY. Step Daughter Ann Weed of New Jersey, Step Grandson Robert Weed of North Carolina, Sister in Law Betty Keding of Fulton NY and several nieces and nieces.Grace was a member of The Order of Eastern Star, Cascade Vassar Chapter # 347 and the Railroad Old Timers Club.Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 27, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Parmele Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home 110 Fulton Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday December 28, 2011 at 10am at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church , Poughkeepsie.
