Obituary of Grace McPhee

McPHEE _ Grace passed into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on Monday, August 7, 2006. Beloved by her family, her church family, her many friends, her "boys", and so many to whom she extended her warmth and love. Born in Vancouver, September 14, 1922, daughter to Walter and Mary McPhee, she lived in the family home for over 75 years. Her brothers Arthur and Walter entered the military and she remained in Vancouver, lovingly caring for her mother, then her father, and other family. An integral part of the Granville Chapel Community for many decades, she ran the Nursery, was involved in Dorcas Missionary Fellowship and the Women's Missionary Work Meeting, sang in the choir. She loved serving at Daybreak Point Camp, and Blenheim Lodge. Grace was always "gracious". After the death of her father she hosted Regent College and UBC students (her "boys") for more than 25 years, as they boarded at her home while studying. She was faithful in praying for and writing cards and letters and sending special parcels to family, missionaries and friends. She was a great hostess, lovingly producing people's favorite meals and treats. Many recall being recipients of wonderful decorated gingerbread men that emerged from her oven at Christmas time. Grace was a true servant of Jesus. The burial service will be at Mountain View Cemetery at 10:00am Monday August 14, 2006. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm at Granville Chapel.
