WARTHEN, Ga. - Mrs. Grace Leverett Davis, age 88, of 7475 Highway 15 North in Warthen died Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday May 17 in the Warthen United Methodist Church in Warthen, with burial in the Warthen United Methodist Church Cemetery. Her grandchildren and Rev. Don Black will conduct the service. Mrs. Davis was a native of Terrell County, Georgia, the daughter of the late John Henry Leverett and the late Lottie Lou Smith Leverett. She was the wife of the late Gordon Lamar Davis and was preceded in death by a brother Earl Leverett. Mrs. Davis attended Georgia Southwestern College and the Georgia State College for Women. She was a school teacher in Tennille and Warthen and a homemaker. Mrs. Davis also served as a substitute teacher for Brentwood School. She was an active member of the Warthen United Methodist Church and was a Sunday school teacher for over twenty years. Survivors are her children, Dean Lamar Davis and his wife Mary Gail of Warthen, Thomas Leverett Davis of Warthen, Gloria Davis Lindsey and her husband Don of Riddleville and Eloise Grace Davis of Warthen, grandchildren Jamie (Crissy) Lindsey, Michael (Kristin) Davis, Avary (Phillip) Pelphrey, Pamela (Chad) Foskey, Charlie (Regina) Lindsey, Lucy (Jamie) Pachter, Jason (Christin) Davis, Katie (Scott) Terrell, Marilyn (Chad) Forehand, 13 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren, two sisters, Rheta L. Skolaut of Durham, NC and Carolyn L. Kelly of Bainbridge, two nephews and a niece. The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday. Donations may be made to the Warthen UMC Cemetery Fund c/o Karen M.
