GLORIA S. SMITH Gloria S. Smith, 81, of Lake Placid, Fla., went to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 16, 2007. She was born in South Hadley, Mass., January 5, 1926, to parents Emest and Grace (Sharon) Scribner. She served her country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korea conflict, and moved to Lake Placid in 1985 from Miami after retiring as an executive secretary in the food vending industry. She was an active member with both the Sun ' N Lakes Ladies Golf Association and the First Baptist Church of Lake Placid. Mrs. Smith was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Holt, and is survived by her loving husband; William E. Sr.; daughter, M. Carol Fontenot; son, William E. Jr.; and five grandchildren. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2007, at the First Baptist Church of Lake Placid, with a service celebrating Mrs. Smith' s life 11 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2007, at the First Baptist Church of Lake Placid, 119 E.
