JOHNSON, Gloria Martha Vonesh, 84, went to be with her heavenly Father October 24, 2010, in Bradenton, Fla., after moving to the Westminster Community there in May. Formerly of Sun City Center, Fla., Lee' s Summit, Mo., Portland, Ore., East Lansing and Okemos, Mich., Cos Cob and Ridgefield, Conn., Clarendon Hills and Chicago, Ill., she was active in her church in each of those communities. A godly woman, she was dedicated to spreading the gospel wherever she was. She loved to teach Sunday school, junior church, Pioneer Girls, and women' s bible study, but her favorite was vacation bible school. In addition to her church activities, she was an avid reader of the Bible, religious authors, and mysteries as well as an accomplished pianist and organist. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Wilbur Eric Johnson, in 2007, and her beloved pug, Mike, in 2008. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela and her husband, John Ingraham of Lansing, Mich.; her son, Thomas and his wife, Denise of Prairie Village, Kan.; granddaughters, Jessica Ingraham Ely (Sean) and Angela Ingraham Sands (Mathew); brothers, Ralph and James Vonesh; nieces, Sandra Vonesh Koch and Eleanor Vonesh Charchut (Leonard); nephew, Jim Vonesh; and well as grand-and great-grandnieces and nephews who lovingly referred to her as "Graunty." A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 30, at the Sun City Center United Methodist Church.
