AIKEN, S.C. - Funeral services for Mrs. Gloria Jean Busch Johnson, 64, of Busch Acres Lane, who died Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at St. Luke Hospital, Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., will be held Monday, July 10, 2006 in Millbrooks Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Southlawn Cemetery. She was a member of Fountain of Life in Aiken, S.C. Mrs. Johnson was a 1960 graduate of Martha Schofield High School. She furthered her education at South State College in Orangeburg, S.C., University of Connecticut, Hartford, Conn. and other colleges and universities. Her achievements: Dean of Students and Vice President of Development at Aiken Technical College until retirement in 1995; Local and National level of Women Aglow; recently elected to the Board of American Red Cross; (Mother) Midland Valley Chamber of Commerce; President of Midland Valley Lion's Club three years, the club was named the Top Club in District 32B, which consists of 41 clubs; Council of Aging; Elect Trustee Aiken Electric Coop 16 years; Advisory Board Security Federal Bank; President of South Carolina Board of Examiners of the Licensure of Professional Counselors, 5 years; Marriage and Family Therapists and Psycho-educational Specialists. She was appointed to the board by Governor Campbell and was reappointed by Governor Hodges; Beasley and Sanford; South Carolina Counseling Assoc.; Inter m Prison Warden in Connecticut; Citizen of the Year for the Midland Valley Chamber; The Margaret J. Weston Health Champion Award, which she recently received and Regular Columnist of the Villager. Mrs. Johnson served as World Mission Director at Fountain of Life Fellowship, ACPART, brought the Olympic Rowing to Langley Pong, Valley Empty Stocking Fund, Jane and Johnny Doe Christmas Fund, which assisted with elementary in the Valley Area. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Constaldo M. (Mitch) Bush, Maria Tamimi Bush, Jacksonville, Fla.; a granddaughter, Miquela P. Bush, Jacksonville; six sisters, Thelma Porter Spinkinard, Alberteen (Tina) Johnson, New Brunswick, N.J., Lelila (Lee) Jack, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Loretta Margaret Moody-Turner, Aiken, Zoe Elizabeth Stallings and Edna Nellie Bush, Brooklyn, N.Y.; two brothers, Esthus Bush, Mount Laurel, N.J. and Dennis Russell Bush, Appling, Ga. Friends may call at the resident or at the funeral home beginning at 3 to 8 p.m. today and Monday 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and at the church from 2:00 p.m.until the hour of service.
