Gloria H. Wilson, a longtime resident of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, in a nursing home in Georgia. She was born in McDonough on Nov. 22, 1922. She graduated from Brenau College, Gainesville, and received her master's degree from Peabody College. Gloria was very proud of her service with the USO during the early 1950s. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Edgewater, Fla., and served as Sunday school director, Sunday school teacher and on numerous other committees. She was a teacher in the Volusia County school system for many years. She was a member of the Democratic Club of NSB, Oceanside Woman's Club and Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Sorority. She is survived by one sister, Grace Moore, Gainesville; and a number of nieces and nephews of Georgia. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Gloria donated her body for scientific research to Emory University, Atlanta.
