Funeral services for Gloria Denise Williams will be held on Wednesday February 19 2003 at 12 noon at Unity Temple Church of God in Christ. The family will receive friends at the Mercer Brothers Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. On Thursday February 13 2003 Gloria Denise Williams died at the age of 34. Gloria began this earthly journey on June 30 1968 in Jackson Tennessee. She was the oldest child born to John and Minnie Williams. She resided with her maternal grandparents Neal and Faye Pearson. Gloria received her earliest education from the West Tennessee Cerebral Palsy Center. When she was in the fourth grade she and her brand new wheel chair entered JB Young Elementary School. She graduated from South Side High School in 1989 and attended the Tennessee Rehabilitation Center in Smyrna Tennessee. During her youth she accepted Jesus Christ as her Saviour and united with Rock Temple Church of God in Christ and later became a member of Unity Temple Church of God in Christ. While Gloria struggled with physical handicaps her spirit and mind were always alert cheerful and loving. She brought joy to her family and to everyone whose life she touched. Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved grandfather Neal Pearson Sr.; fraternal grandparents John and Willa Mae Williams Sr.; devoted aunts Regina Love George and Cecelia Pearson and an uncle Neal 'Sonny' Pearson Elaine. She leaves to cherish her memory her parents John and Minnie Williams of Jackson Michigan; one brother Maurice Williams Katherine of Jackson Michigan; her maternal grandmother Faye Pearson of Jackson Tennessee; fraternal grandmother Loretta Williams of Jackson Michigan; three aunts Dorsey Moten Bobby of Henderson Tennessee and Brenda Kay Buckley Joe and Debra Chatman Charles both of Jackson Tennessee; two uncles Jimmy Charles Pearson Valerie of Nashville Tennessee and Timothy Pearson Anner of Jackson Tennessee and one niece Victoria Williams. Additionally she will be missed by numerous great-aunts and uncles cousins and friends. The body will lie in state at the church from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
