MERIDEN - Gladys De Champlain, 90, wife of the late Arthur J. De Champlain, died Friday, April 22, 2005, at the Meriden Care and Rehabilitation Center.Born Sept. 12, 1914, in North Haven, she was the daughter of the late Thure and Frances Bridget Johnson. A longtime resident of Meriden, Gladys was employed by the Napier Company for 18 years. She was a parishioner of St. Rose Church.Mrs. De Champlain leaves a son, Arthur A. De Champlain of Conway, S.C.; two grandsons, Peter De Champlain of Conway, S.C. and Arthur A. De Champlain Jr. of Gainesville, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Chelsea, Courtney, Peter, Sara, Samuel, David and Anna. She was predeceased by two brothers, Carl and Elmer Johnson; and a sister, Frances Kowalski.Her funeral will be held Tuesday, April 26, at 9:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, CT. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.. at St. Rose Church. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend her calling hours at the Stempien Funeral Home, Monday (TODAY), April 25, from 5 to 7 p.m.
