Gladys Johnson August 10, 1917 - November 24, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Peacefully, on Thursday, November 24, 2005, Gladys Johnson passed away at Oakveiw Place. Gladys was predeceased by her husband Stuart and her siblings, Molly, John and Bert. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Allan (Veronica), Wayne (Donalda) and Don (Carolyn); grandchildren, Corey (Debbie), Lisa (Jeff), Kelly (Gloria), and Carey and great-grandchildren, Aurora, Kai, Genna and Nicolas. Gladys was born on August 10, 1917 in Portadown, Ireland and came to Canada when she was six years old. The family farmed near Baldur, Manitoba where she received her schooling. She worked at the Ninette Sanitorium until she came to Winnipeg and met and married Stuart. After raising her family she returned to work at the Deer Lodge Hospital. Gladys was a long time resident of St. James and enjoyed her weekly get-togethers with her friends at the adult day-care program of Oakview Place. The family thanks her caregivers and homecare workers, for the many years of care and kindness shown to her. Also, many thanks to the staff of Oakview Place for the dedicated care given to our mother during her recent stay there. Funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald Street,Winnipeg, R3L 0K6 would be appreciated.
