Gladys Hall, born in 1928, spouse of Edward Hall, daughter of Gordan and Constance-Jowett, died on November 7, 2007.
Gladys Hall SCARBOROUGH -- Gladys Hall passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at Pine Point Nursing Home. She was born Dec. 3, 1928, in Mexico, the daughter of Gordan and Constance Jowett McCaffrey originally of Scotland. She married Edward Hall of Portland in 1949 and remained devoted to him until his death in 1980. She was a lifelong summer resident then full-time resident of Kinney Shores in Saco. She took great pride in her Scottish heritage and great solace in her ocean front home. She fed her pet sea gulls bologna, cultivated sea roses and guarded her sea grass. She loved the sight, sounds and smells of the ocean and was content to sit in the sun and soak it all in. She was employed for 45 years with the Portland Press Herald / Maine Sunday Telegram as executive secretary in the circulation department and many of her colleagues became life long friends. She is survived by her sister-in- law, Virginia Lott of Portland; family of choice, Pat Howard and Sandy Bicknell of Raymond and Louise Symington of Texas. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland. Arrangements are being handled by Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral, 199 Woodford St., Portland. In lieu of flowers, it was Gladys's wish that donations in her name be sent to: The Animal Welfare Society P.O. Box 43 Harland Rd. West Kennebunk, Maine 04094 Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home & Cremation Service 775-3763
