<!-- FH = Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd. -->Gilbert H. MartinGilbert Harry Martin of Springfield passed away on November 7, 2012. He was born on September 11, 1924, in Iola, Kansas, to Harry Cline Martin and Sarah Hazel Martin (nee. Martin). Gilbert graduated from Joplin Missouri Senior High School. Shortly thereafter he entered the United States Army. Gilbert was a proud veteran of the Army Airborne in World War II. He served in three major campaigns in Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge. After the war Gilbert met and married the love of his life, Clara Mae Spencer, to whom he was married for sixty-six years and who survives him.Mr. Martin worked for E. A. Martin Machinery Caterpillar for forty-two years and retired from his position as Inventory Control Manager.Gilbert and Clara have three children. Ronald G. Martin predeceased his father. Gilbert is survived by Johnnie E. Martin and wife, Deborah, of Springfield; and Barbara E. Stone, and husband, Freddy, of Marshfield; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.Gilbert attended church at Life360 Park Crest Campus where he enjoyed worshipping and Christian Fellowship.Visitation is Sunday, November 11, 2012, 6-8 PM, in Walnut Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 AM in the Life360 Church Park Crest Campus, Monday, November 12. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, at 2:30 PM.
