NASHUA - Gertrude I. Picard, 78, of Nashua died Jan. 13, 2013, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a lengthy illness. She was born in Nashua on May 13, 1934, the daughter of Wilfred and Angelina (Niquette) Berthiaume and was a lifelong resident of the Gate City. She was educated in the local school system and attended St. Francis Xavier School. She was employed at a number of jobs in the Nashua area, among them Pilgrim Furniture, N.H. Tobacco and Doehla's Greeting Cards. She also worked at International Shoe, and it was there that she met her future husband. Gert was a skilled seamstress, and there wasn't anything that she couldn't make from upholstery and home d&#233;cor to special occasion clothing designs. She loved music and played piano for her friends and family, especially during holidays and family gatherings. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, gardening, bird-watching and was a die-hard Boston sports teams fan, especially rooting for the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics. Above all else, she loved being a housewife and mother and always kept busy. She was predeceased by her brother, Lionel Berthiaume, and by her sister, Laurette Ricard. Members of her family include her loving husband of 60 years, Roger Picard of Nashua; her two daughters, Carol Picard of Milan and Susan Picard of Londonderry; her two sons, Charles Picard of Hudson and Richard Picard; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. . services: Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St., Nashua. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 18, in St. Joseph the Worker Church, 777 W. Hollis St., Nashua. Burial will follow in St. Louis De Gonzague Cemetery.
