Gertrude H. (McKay) Peters, 102, died at West Acres Nursing Home in Brockton, Sunday, June 1, 2014. She was the wife of the late Jay Peters. Born in Stoughton, she was a lifelong resident of Stoughton before moving to Brockton a few years ago. She was a graduate of Stoughton schools. Mrs. Peters was the owner and hairdresser at Gertrudes in East Bridgewater. She was a member of the Catholic Womens Guild at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton and enjoyed rug braiding and embroidering. Mrs. Peters was the sister of Helen Stashis of Florida, the twin sister of the late Mildred P. McKay; and the stepsister of the late Vetie Leedham. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was offered in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27), Stoughton, Thursday, June 5, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours prior from 9:30-10 a.m. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
