Geraldine R. 'Geri' SmithWorld War II Vet; 82 DRACUT -- Geraldine R. "Geri" (Minnerly) (Kramer) Smith, 82, of Dracut, formerly of Billerica, died Sunday, September 15th, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston with her loving family by her side.She was the beloved wife of the late William Smith, and the late Page Kramer.Born in Norwalk, Virginia, March 28, 1931, the daughter of the late John R. and the late Mabel F. (Reynolds) Minnerly, she attended Hampton, Virginia schools, and was a graduate of Hampton High School in the Class of 1949.Following high school, Geri enlisted in and proudly served her country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.Eager to further her education, in 1973, she put herself through nursing school and earned the title of Licensed Practical Nurse.Before retiring, Geri was employed as an LPN at the Edith Nourse Rogers Veteran's Hospital Alzheimer's Unit for over 17 years. Previously, she worked at the former St. John's Hospital in Lowell (now known as Lowell General Hospital - Saints Campus).Being all about family, she especially loved spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Geri is survived by two daughters, Linda M. Chadwell and her husband, Mark of San Diego, CA, and Penny Zanoli of Dracut, MA; a son, Robert P. Kramer of Hudson, NH; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her lifelong friend, Angie Creaser of Bridgeport, CT; and several distant relatives throughout the United States.SMITH -- In Boston, September 15, 2013, at Mass.
