Obituary of Geraldine-B. Smith


SMITH Geraldine B. Smith, 80, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Life Care at Wells Crossing. She was born on May 29, 1930 in Harlan, KY. Gerry was a charter member of Cedar Hills Baptist Church and was very active with their senior citizens group, Always Young. She was a member of the Wesconnett Eastern Star Lodge. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edgar Smith, Sr. Gerry is survived by her son, Ed Smith, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Sherry Carlyon (Steve) of Jacksonville, FL; 3 sisters, Edna Massey, Glessie Boggs (Junior), and Lavon Robinson (Jim), all of KY; 2 grandchildren, Tawni Fitzpatrick (Craig) and Shawn Strumlauf (Jolene); 3 great-grandchildren, Parker and Griffin Fitzpatrick and Addison Strumlauf. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 from 6-8 pm. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Cedar Hills Baptist Church, 4200 Jammes Rd., Jacksonville, FL, with Rev. Tim McDaniel officiating. Entombment will follow at Jacksonville Memory Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 5753 Blanding Blvd., 777-5727.
