Decatur<!-- George Ottis Kirby -->Funeral service for George Ottis Kirby, 85, of Decatur will be Friday, February 26, 2010, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Knighten and the Rev. Doug Smith officiating. Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Kirby, who died Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at Summerford Nursing Home, was born December 2, 1924, in Morgan County to Barry George Kirby and Essie Lee Kirby. He served in the U.S. Army in the military police. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris White Kirby; and one son, David Allen Kirby.Survivors include two sons, Don (Lisa) Kirby of Hartselle and Bobby (Lanita) Kirby of Danville; daughter, Cathy (Jack) Allen of Anderson, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Katie (Ashley) Bowling, Jay Kirby, Amy (Jeremy) Mosteller, Jason Allen, Wayne Galloway, David (Lora) Galloway and Marie (Chess) Martin; and seven great-grandchildren, Kensley and Conner Bowling, Haley and Hudson Crow, Brook Madison, Abbie Martin and Abbie Kirby. Pallbearers will be grandsons.Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
