Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. George Milton Lee, 93, Gadsden, who left for his Heavenly home March 23, 2013. The Revs. Harold Daugherty, Albert Morgan and Billy Boatwright will officiate with burial at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.Mr. Lee was born in Shelby County, AL, on Dec. 20, 1919, to Oliver and Mary Hughes Lee. He moved to Etowah County in 1928, where he later met and married the love of his life, Bonnie Mae Pruitt, in 1940, his faithful companion of 63 years. He entered the U.S. Army in 1944, serving in Japan, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked at Dwight Mills, Attalla Pipe Foundry and retired from Bowman Transportation Co. After retirement, he worked as a door greeter at Wal-Mart, meeting many wonderful people. He was a very compassionate man and loved all people. He treated people the way he wanted to be treated.He had a great love for his Heavenly father, his wife, his three daughters and their families. He will be greatly missed by his family and the many who knew him. He was a born-again Christian, a member of Gospel Temple Christian Center and an avid reader of his Bible. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; his granddaughter, Lisa Blackwell Anders; father, Oliver Lee; mother and stepfather, Mary and John Simon; sisters, Lula Wright, Bertha Hamby and Betty Bates; brothers, Harold and O.C. Lee and Johnny Simon; and mother- and father-in-law, Frank and Ola Pruitt.Survivors include his three daughters, Annette Blackwell, Carrie Chambers, Deborah Mitchell; son-in-law, Dennis Mitchell; and his sister, Mary Moon; grandchildren, Lenny (Melissa) Blackwell, Brent (Brandi) Blackwell, Ron (Shannon) Campbell, Kelli (Phillip) Winkles, Leah (John) Ramsey, Ben Mitchell and Holly; great grandchildren, Drew Blackwell, Bevin (Logan) Payne, Lee Smith, Bradley Anders and fiancée, Bethany, Megan (Kevin) Hill, Luke Bobbitt, Chase Bobbitt, Avery Bobbitt, Kayla Winkles, Brianna Winkles, Anna and Alissa Ramsey; great-great-grandchildren, Kace and Samuel Smith; several nieces and nephews; and special sisters-in-law, Ruby Payne, Pauline (Calvin) McCullough, Dollie (Terry) Brown and Leola Gladden.Pallbearers will be Lenny Blackwell, Ron Campbell, Drew Blackwell, Ben Mitchell, Bradley Anders, Chase Bobbitt, Phillip Winkles and Danny Gaskey.
