George Lee, born in 1935, spouse of Rhoda Lee, father of Nicholas and Sabrina, died on May 6, 2011.
LEE, George George passed away on May 6, 2011 at Lions Gate Hospital with family at his side after a courageous two year battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Born in Vancouver in 1935, the sixth of seven siblings, George attended King Ed High School, UBC, UC Berkeley and the Thunderbird School of International Management. He is survived by his wife Rhoda, his son Nicholas, daughter Sabrina, daughter-in-law Joanne, granddaughter Jillian and a loving extended family. George was a creative, visionary entrepreneur with a pioneering spirit. He spearheaded the Gastown Beautification in the 1970's and founded Lee Importers, Kego, Ming rattan furniture and Design21. He was also involved with Brothers Restaurant and Punchlines Comedy Club in Gastown. He was an avid skier and scuba diver. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, travel, jazz, tennis, fitness, piano, telling stories and meeting new friends. His optimism, passion, charm, great sense of humor and sincere interest in people will be dearly missed. His Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 15th at 2pm at Capilano Golf & Country Club, 420 Southborough, West Vancouver. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation in George's honor to the Leukemia/BMT Program.
