George "Duke" Jackson, 83, of Ludowici died Friday, Dec. 21, at Liberty Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. The Long County native was a long-term resident of East Orange, N.J., and, most recently, a resident of Savannah. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by one daughter, Gwendolyn Jackson of Philadelphia, Pa.; an aunt, Addie Jackson of New Haven, Conn.; an uncle, Arralious Jackson of Ludowici; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Elem Missionary Baptist Church in Ludowici. Pastor Dr. Richard Neal will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Remains will lie in state one hour before the service. Royal Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
