Jackson, Jr., peacefully reunited with the Lord on February 23, 2013.Born in Tampa, Florida on January 9, 1926 to the late George M. Jackson, Sr. and Carrie Delgado Jackson, Mr. Jackson moved to Pensacola at age four, where he lived for 83 years. Mr. Jackson served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He returned to Pensacola and resumed his Civil Service career at Pensacola NAS as an aircraft examiner until his retirement after 38 years of service. During his retirement years, George enjoyed family, friends, golf, fishing and traveling.George, Jr. was preceded in death by both parents, a sister, Beatrice Boone, and a brother, Edward Jackson. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Sherrer Jackson, a daughter, Marcia Jackson Gierisch, a son, George Douglas Jackson, a sister, Ethel "Bootsie" Kee, four grandchildren, Tiffany Jackson-Martin, Ryan Gierisch, Meagan Gierisch, George Franklin Jackson, two great-grandchildren, Lillian and Jackson Abels, and life-time friend, Bill Bathurst.Arrangements will be handled by Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, Florida on Friday, March 1, 2013. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. in the Oak Lawn Chapel. Interment after the service will be held at Myrtle Grove United Methodist Cemetery located at the corner of 57th Avenue and Lillian Highway. Following graveside committal, family will receive guests in the Fellowship Hall of Myrtle Grove United Methodist Church.In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Adkinson-White Scholarship Fund established by the Myrtle Grove United Methodist Church, or Covenant Hospice of Northwest Florida.
