Obituary of George-Henry-Howe Sr


George Henry Howe Sr., 62 STANDISH -- George Henry Howe Sr., 62, of Northeast Road, passed away on Jan. 8, 2014, after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born in Rochester, N.H., on Aug. 5, 1951, the son of the late Henry and Gladys (Holt) Howe. After attending Bonny Eagle High School, George began his career and lifelong passion- truck driving. George operated trailer truck for 44 years and leased to R.C. Moore for over 15 years. He truly enjoyed his career and was known for constantly washing and polishing his truck. He also enjoyed mentoring new truck drivers and appreciated those who mentored him. He enjoyed reading Christian and Western books and shows, NASCAR racing, and most importantly, family dinners and gatherings. He was a member of Living Waters Christian Church in Buxton and LifeChurch in Gorham. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry (Morse) Howe, whom he married on Sept. 20, 1986; son, George H. Howe Jr. of Gorham, daughters, Sherrie (Howe) Nickerson, Sarah Howe, and Shannon Howe, all of Standish; brothers, John Howe and Henry Howe of Standish, sisters, Lenora Burnham of Lyman, Joan Pombriant of South Portland, Jane DiPaolo of Saco and Lucille Howe-Barnhart of Buxton; and grandchildren, Morgan, Julia, Jayden, Gaige and Chance. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday evening, Jan. 14, from 6-8 p.m., at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, located on the corners of Rts. 202 and 4A (13 Portland Rd.) in Buxton (Bar Mills). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Living Waters Christian Church, Parker Farm Road (Rt. 112) in West Buxton.
