George H. Christian Sr., 81, of Toms River, N.J., passed away suddenly on Dec. 31, 2013, at his home. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph R.C. Church, Toms River, N.J. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.ryanfuneralhome.com. George was born in Newark, N.J., to Richard and Jennie Christian. He graduated from West Side High School in Newark, N.J., and went on to attend Seton Hall University, where he was a member of the Pershing Rifles. George moved to Neptune, N.J., and in 1969, to Toms River. He served as a captain in the N.J. Army National Guard for over 16 years. Later, George went on to work as an investigator for the State of New Jersey for the Legalized Games of Chance Control Commission. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Thomas J. Christian Sr.; his brother, Lt. Col. Richard S. Christian, and by his sister, Jean Christian. George is survived by his wife of 57 years, Connie (Mee) Christian; his sons, George H. Christian Jr. of Toms River, and Paul R. Christian of Fairplay, Colo.; his daughter, Patricia E. Christian and her husband, Robert V. Royle, of Brick, N.J., and his daughter-in-law, Kelly P. Christian, and three grandchildren, Thomas J. Christian Jr., Lauren E. Christian and Lindsey M. Christian.
