George Francis Neal Sr. Mass is on Friday for career restaurateur, Marine Corps veteran, East Orange resident George Francis Neal Sr., 86, of East Orange, N.J., died peacefully in his sleep on March 9, 2015. Relatives and friends may visit with his family at Halpin-Bitecola Brookdale Funeral Home, 1284 Broad Street, Bloomfield, N.J., on Thursday, March 12, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Name of Jesus R.C. Church in East Orange on Friday, March 13, at 10 a.m. George was born in New York City, N.Y., on July 20, 1928. A graduate of Xavier High School (Manhattan) '46, Fordham University '50, and New York Law School '55, George honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953. A lifelong restaurateur, following in his family traditional, he pursued his passion at Neal's Steakhouse, The Russian Tea Room, Glen Ridge Country Club, and Basking Ridge Country Club. George was the devoted husband of Nancy Kenney Neal for 60 years; loving father of Christine Sullivan (Robert), Kathleen Keohane (William), Patricia Romo (Christopher), and George Francis Neal Jr. (Jill), and beloved grandfather of William, Rebecca, and JT Sullivan, Liam, Kevin, and Colleen Keohane, Sean and Christopher Romo Jr, and Owen and Molly Neal.
