George-F. Lee, born in 1925, spouse of Josephine Lee, son of Fred and Mabel, father of Keith, Jina, Vestal, Lance, Nc, Cullowhee, Dan, Fl, Orange, Jeannette, Ny, Binghamton, Nancy, Az, Surprise and Fran, died on September 27, 2014 at 89 years old.

Lee, 89,of Ideal Senior Living Center, died Saturday Sept. 27, 2014.Our Dad has joined our Mom in Heaven and they will be together for Eternity. Dad was born in 1925 in Flushing, NY, to the late Fred and Mabel Lee. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 45 years, Josephine, in 1993; his sister, Vera Howell; and his granddaughter, Renee Lee Metzger. He is survived by his 7 children: Fran (Tom) Hallock, Surprise, AZ; Nancy (Bill) Metzger, Binghamton, NY; Jeannette (George) Gray, Orange City, FL; Dan (Gladys) Lee, Cullowhee, NC; Lance (Helen) Lee, Vestal, NY; Keith Lee, Binghamton, NY; Jina (Ron) Samulka, Binghamton, NY; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Also sisters, Betty Case and Elaine Tyburski, both of Sarasota, FL; sister-in-law, Marian Noe, St Petersburg, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Dad served in the U.S. Navy during WW2 and was stationed in many places; Morocco, Italy and Okinawa among them. Upon his discharge in 1948, he married our mom, Josephine Benedix. They lived in Manhattan, Flushing and Brooklyn, before finally settling in Far Rockaway, Queens, NY. He worked for many different shoe companies. The longest of which was Brooks Bros. on Madison Ave in NYC, from which Dad retired in 1986. Dad loved bowling, The NY Mets, and working on his car (or anyone else's). Mom & Dad moved to Binghamton in 1987. Then down to Orlando, FL in 1992 to enjoy the sun. Dad returned to Binghamton in 2006. He especially enjoyed spending time with his friends at Yesteryears, a Day program for Seniors in Binghamton.Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3:00-5:00 pm at the Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13905. A Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Union Volunteer Emergency Service, 8 S. Avenue B Endwell, NY 13760 OR Yesteryears Day Program, c/o BC Office of the Aging, PO box 1766, Binghamton, NY 13902.
