OBITUARY Mr. GEORGE EDWARD JACKSON Mr. George Edward Jackson, age eighty-eight, of Jefferson, died Monday morning, April 13, 2009 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Funeral services was held on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Jackson was born in Brainerd, Minnesota on Thursday, June 10, 1920 to the late George and Zelma Lyng Jackson. He had an instrumental part in starting the Bowater Paper Mill in Rock Hill, SC. He had traveled world wide with his job such places as, France, Japan and Russia. He also would participate in bicycling racing. He was a third generation "paper-maker". George was very active in designing and supervising the building of newspaper plants in France, Canada and the USA. He received his education in Canada; first in the eastern townships then at the McGill University in Montreal with majoring in chemical engineering. After graduation, his hopes of serving in the Navy were forfeited. He was drafted into the war plants. He then helped develop the Tracer Bullet. Every seventh bullet in a gun was a tracer bullet. There he also met his future wife, Audley Bush. After the war ended, they moved to the US. They lived in Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, Virginia, and retired in Florida in 1994. In 1998 they bought a home in West Jefferson. He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Audley Bush Jackson of Jefferson; two sons, Glen Jackson and wife, Linda, of Rock Hill, SC and Craig Jackson and wife, Sandy, of Todd; a daughter, Brenda Liu and husband, Daikee, of Fairfield, PA; a sister, Joyce Schueck, of Vancouver; four grandchildren, Andrew Craig Jackson, Jr., Margaret Elizabeth Kihlsterom, Jay George Liu and Suzannah Johnson; a great-granddaughter, Jillian Johnson also survive.
